Stainless steel Rolex Submariner Ref. 1680. This 1680 Rolex Submariner, is a fine example from the 1970s, presented in beautiful and original condition. The case has seen minimal polishing, retaining its original shapes and chamfers, which are still clearly visible. The dial has developed a stunning, creamy patina, adding to its vintage charm, with all lume on the hands and hour markers remaining original. The bracelet shows minimal stretch, though the clasp was replaced with a later version during its last service. Powered by the reliable self-winding Caliber 1570 movement, the watch was fully serviced by Rolex in 2023, as confirmed by its accompanying service papers. This is a remarkable piece for vintage Rolex enthusiasts—a timeless classic with undeniable character and appeal.

The Rolex Submariner

The Rolex Submariner is without a doubt one of the most successful Rolex models in history. Not only because it more than aptly served its purpose as diver’s watch, although I am pretty sure only a small number of Submariners has ever seen a spat of water. Its appearance in several James Bond movies certainly helped as well. If you omit functionality and marketing, the Submariner success is mainly due to its elegance as a timeless dress watch. It’s just one of those watches you keep looking at, regardless of wanting to know the time of day. The Submariner was launched in 1953 and officially presented at the Basel Fair in 1954.
