Description

Stainless steel Rolex Sea Dweller ref. 1665. A highly attractive late example of the iconic Sea-Dweller 1665, dating to 1983, featuring the rare final-version caseback. This piece is in excellent condition, showing minimal signs of wear. The case remains thick and well-preserved, and the bracelet exhibits very little stretch. Notably, the caseback still retains traces of the original black paint in the engraved inscriptions, a subtle but appreciated detail. The bezel insert has taken on a slight, even fade, harmonizing beautifully with the warm patina of the flawless dial. All luminous material is original and well-preserved. Powered by the self-winding Caliber 1570, this watch represents a special surviving example from the final chapter of the 1665 collection, a remarkable addition for any serious vintage Rolex collector.

THE SEA-DWELLER 1967

1967 saw the launch of the Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller, waterproof to a depth of 610 metres. To meet the needs of professional deep-sea divers, the case was equipped with a helium escape valve so that, during long decompression phases in hyperbaric chambers, the helium from the gas mixtures used could be released without risking damage to the watch. SEA-DWELLER 4000 - 1978
