Stainless steel Rolex GMT Master Ref. 1675. An outstanding example of the iconic Rolex GMT-Master Ref. 1675, this watch dates to 1978 and is preserved in fully original condition. Representing one of the final iterations of the 1675, it features the end of matte production MK5 dial. Despite regular use over the years, the watch remains in excellent condition. The case is unpolished, retaining its original lines, and the bracelet shows virtually no stretch. The matte MK5 dial is flawless with untouched original lume, while the vibrant Pepsi bezel insert is in near-new condition. All components are period-correct and stamped with the appropriate 1978 codes. Powered by the reliable self-winding Caliber 1570, this vintage GMT-Master is a true collector’s piece and one that’s sure to capture your heart.

THE GMT-MASTER 1955

The GMT-Master was developed to meet the specific needs of airline pilots. It became the official watch of several airlines, among them the famous Pan American World Airways, better known as Pan Am. Its most distinguishing visual feature was the two-tone bezel which marked daytime from nighttime hours.

As intercontinental travel developed in the 1950s, airliners began to fly swiftly across several successive time zones. For the first time it became important to know the time in various places in the world, simultaneously. It was the dawn of the jet age, and Rolex responded with a watch to match the spirit of the times.
