Description

Stainless steel Rolex Daytona ref. 6239. An outstanding and highly attractive Rolex Cosmograph Daytona reference 6239 in stainless steel, dating to 1967 and fitted with a beautiful black dial. This Rolex Daytona was acquired directly from the original owner in the south of Spain, adding exceptional provenance and authenticity and is presented in very nice original condition. Although it has been worn, the case remains beautifully preserved, retaining thick, sharp lugs and strong, well-defined edges. The black dial is in excellent condition and has been professionally relumed to original factory standards, preserving both its aesthetics and legibility. The original rivet Oyster bracelet is remarkably well preserved, showing very little stretch and correctly stamped 1967, further confirming the coherence of the watch. Powered by the legendary manual-winding cal. 722, this Daytona exemplifies the elegant simplicity and functional purity that define early Rolex chronographs. A true classic and a compelling testament to Rolex’s chronograph heritage—an exceptional addition to any serious collection.

DAYTONA BEACH 1960

Birth of a Horological Icon Timepiece  The myth around the iconic Rolex Daytona has spread around the world recent years. Always has the Daytona model been attached to motor racing, at first Rolex called their new Cosmograph the “Le Mans” and little later to “Daytona” when Rolex started to sponsor the well known U.S. speedway.
Cosmograph: a name that was to be the forerunner of great fortune. Actually, the choice of the name proved to be neither easy nor expected. Whilst Rolex on the one hand flirted with the car-racing world, on the other hand it could not remain unaware of the vast media attention, which at that time was surrounding the conquest of outer space.
