Description

18K gold Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ref. 6263. A truly exceptional example of the legendary Rolex Daytona reference 6263, crafted in 18K yellow gold and featuring a stunning champagne dial. Produced between 1971 and 1987, only an estimated 1,500 to 2,000 pieces of the gold references 6263 and 6265 were ever made — making this one of the rarest and most coveted configurations among collectors. This particular 1985 example remains in outstanding condition. The case is unpolished and the bracelet exhibits virtually no stretch, a remarkable testament to its careful preservation. The champagne dial is in excellent condition, retaining all original lume plots with only minimal signs of wear. The black acrylic bezel, a defining feature of the 6263, is near flawless. Powered by the hand-wound Caliber 727, chronometer officially certified, this watch delivers both historical significance and mechanical precision. Originally purchased in the Virgin Islands in 1987, it comes as a full set — complete with its original box and papers — a rarity that significantly enhances its collectability. An extraordinary opportunity to acquire one of the most desirable and well-preserved gold Daytonas ever produced. Examples like this are few and far between — don’t let it slip away.

DAYTONA BEACH 1960

Birth of a Horological Icon Timepiece  The myth around the iconic Rolex Daytona has spread around the world recent years. Always has the Daytona model been attached to motor racing, at first Rolex called their new Cosmograph the “Le Mans” and little later to “Daytona” when Rolex started to sponsor the well known U.S. speedway.
Cosmograph: a name that was to be the forerunner of great fortune. Actually, the choice of the name proved to be neither easy nor expected. Whilst Rolex on the one hand flirted with the car-racing world, on the other hand it could not remain unaware of the vast media attention, which at that time was surrounding the conquest of outer space.
