Maunder Watch Co have for sale a Rolex Zenith Daytona Ref. 16518. The original automatic Daytona had a waiting list throughout its production and was perhaps the first non-limited edition watch to command a premium on the Rolex list price. Fitted with a base Zenith El Primero movement that Rolex modified to their own specifications and marketed as Calibre 4030. This Rolex Zenith Daytona from 2001 feautures a 40mm 18ct yellow gold case that has started to see signs of oxidisation due to the watch not being worn excessively. The watch is fitted on a dark burngady leather strap that tones down the watch when compared to full gold braceket versions. This watch is presented in excellent condition and comes with its original paperwork. All our watches have undergone a thorough inspection of accuracy, functionality and are authenticated by our specialist watch makers. DAYTONA BEACH 1960

Birth of a Horological Icon Timepiece  The myth around the iconic Rolex Daytona has spread around the world recent years. Always has the Daytona model been attached to motor racing, at first Rolex called their new Cosmograph the “Le Mans” and little later to “Daytona” when Rolex started to sponsor the well known U.S. speedway.
Cosmograph: a name that was to be the forerunner of great fortune. Actually, the choice of the name proved to be neither easy nor expected. Whilst Rolex on the one hand flirted with the car-racing world, on the other hand it could not remain unaware of the vast media attention, which at that time was surrounding the conquest of outer space.
