Description
Exceedingly rare early example of 14k gold Rolex Daytona ref. 6241 manufactured in 1966.
Reference 6241 was manufactured from 1966 to 1969 and it is among the rarest Daytona references ever produced.
The present specimen is a first series 14k gold 6241 which was created exclusively for the American market.
There are many details that make this particular example one of the most rare and sought after Daytona.
The gorgeous “champagne” dial reveals a special copper tone which gives an overall warm effect with deep rose reflexes.
The big “Daytona” designation is prominently positioned just underneath the “Rolex Cosmograph” writings.
Further increasing its rarity, is the pure white printed graphics used within the subsidiary dials - rather than the usual gilt printing - which create an amazing eye-catching contrast with the hole timepiece.
The wonderful case still retains clear hallmarks on the underside of the lugs.
The stunning appeal of this example is enhanced by the wonderful 14k gold Jubilee bracelet.
Its scarcity and beauty definitely make it an ultimate trophy for discerning Daytona collectors.

DAYTONA BEACH 1960
Daytona Beach, Florida. Long, flat and firm, with hard-packed sand, the beach helped the city of Daytona to forge a legend as the world capital of speed. It boasts 14 world land speed records set between 1904 and 1935, five of them by Rolex-wearer Sir Malcolm Campbell. Over the years, the sand deteriorated. By 1959, a “Super Speedway” was built: the Daytona International Speedway. Follow this link

Birth of a Horological Icon Timepiece
The myth around the iconic Rolex Daytona has spread around the world recent years. Always has the Daytona model been attached to motor racing, at first Rolex called their new Cosmograph the “Le Mans” and little later to “Daytona” when Rolex started to sponsor the well known U.S. speedway.
Cosmograph: a name that was to be the forerunner of great fortune. Actually, the choice of the name proved to be neither easy nor expected. Whilst Rolex on the one hand flirted with the car-racing world, on the other hand it could not remain unaware of the vast media attention, which at that time was surrounding the conquest of outer space.
