ROLEX “TEXANO” REF. 5100 YELLOW GOLD The Rolex reference 5100, called “Texano” by Italian collectors for its esthetic exuberance, is also a watch with exceptional technical characteristics. It is indeed animated by the famous Beta 21 caliber. The Beta 21 caliber was the result of a joint venture between some of the most prestigious Swiss watchmakers, who had joined forces to develop a quartz caliber that would surpass those made in Japan in terms of reliability and precision. The result was extraordinary, one of the most precise and refined quartz calibers ever manufactured. The Rolex “Texano” ref. 5100 was only made in very small numbers, there is talk of 1000 pieces in gold and 99 in white gold. Finding an example in exceptional condition like this one is an increasingly difficult challenge every year even for the more renowned dealers. The present 18kt yellow gold Rolex "Texano" Ref. 5100 is certainly one of the best specimens that have appeared on the market. The case is in mint, unpolished condition with deep hallmarks and sharp lugs, the bracelet is flawless, as is the tritium dial. Virtually untouched, with a perfectly functioning Beta 21 caliber and coming with a beautiful oxidation patina all over this Rolex “Texano” is an exceptional example for anyone seeking quality without compromise. Serial Number 99X, Year Circa 70’s.
