Brand: Rolex Model: Sea-Dweller Reference: 1665 Gender: Gents Year: 1979 Material: Steel Dial Color: Original Matte Black with Beautiful Matching Patina Dimensions: 40mm Watch Movement: Self-Winding Bracelet/Strap: Stainless Steel Bracelet Box/Paper: Leather Travel Case Condition: Thick Case with Signs of Original Finish SKU: 147207 This Rolex Submariner, Ref. 1665 is a gorgeous example of this reference with wonderfully aged dial with yellow lume and an excellent thick case. This watch is also particularly special because this beautiful dial is a "Rail Dial," which is most noticeable by the fact that the "C"s in 'Chronometer' and 'Certified' line up. A few other characteristics that validate this watch as being a true Rail Dial 1665 is that the watch has a 5.78m serial (within the range of Rail dials), a "T Swiss T <25" marking (the only Sea-Dweller dials that should have this marking), italic text for the unit of depth rating and the longer minute markers. This is truly a fantastic example that will be cherished by its future owner.

THE SEA-DWELLER 1967

1967 saw the launch of the Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller, waterproof to a depth of 610 metres. To meet the needs of professional deep-sea divers, the case was equipped with a helium escape valve so that, during long decompression phases in hyperbaric chambers, the helium from the gas mixtures used could be released without risking damage to the watch. SEA-DWELLER 4000 - 1978

Rolex launched the Sea-Dweller 4000, waterproof to a depth of 1,220 metres (4,000 feet).
