Like a Mirror

Year IV.64   Serial 1,23xxxx   Dial Original Gilt dial is in perfect condition with all luminous  perfectly intact,  the hands are original and match perfectly. Dial is very clean with the exception of a small dot center left  that is only visible at certain angles in bright light.   Movement Rolex 1565 Gmt   Case Excellent and original case has never been polished. case shows average wear throughout, however the edges remain very sharp with killer beveled edges. Killer faded fat font bezel insert in perfect conditon for its age.   Bracelet Comes on its Original C&I USA riveted bracelet   Accessories none   Comments This watch is completely original, with an incredible look and is in 100% untouched factory original condition, a truly great GMT-Master with Gilt mirror dial that would make a great addition to any serious collection.

THE GMT-MASTER 1955

The GMT-Master was developed to meet the specific needs of airline pilots. It became the official watch of several airlines, among them the famous Pan American World Airways, better known as Pan Am. Its most distinguishing visual feature was the two-tone bezel which marked daytime from nighttime hours.

As intercontinental travel developed in the 1950s, airliners began to fly swiftly across several successive time zones. For the first time it became important to know the time in various places in the world, simultaneously. It was the dawn of the jet age, and Rolex responded with a watch to match the spirit of the times.
