Description

Sodalite Daytona       - In the collecting world the Daytona has always been the Top model of the Sports range from Rolex. The run on the stainless steel pieces is second to none and it has been like this since the 1990 when the Zenith powered Daytona was in the game, it was like a lottery to get those watches. In the late 1990s, specifically in 1997 Rolex introduced the first Daytona with white gold case which came on a leather strap and half-hooded lugs.  The production run for the 16519 reference was only about 3-4 years only hence is extremely rare. The 16519 is known to come in wild configurations with gem set bezels and exclusive dials such as Pavee and Stone dials. What we have here is a beautiful example of a 16519 Daytona with Sodalite stone dial, a mineral stone that is known for its baby blue color. The dial is factory set with diamonds. The main graphics are in white playing very well alongside the whitish pattern on the dial itself. White gold Zenith Daytonas with special dials are extremely rare and collectable. We are very happy to offer this watch with its original Warranty certificate.

DAYTONA BEACH 1960

Birth of a Horological Icon Timepiece  The myth around the iconic Rolex Daytona has spread around the world recent years. Always has the Daytona model been attached to motor racing, at first Rolex called their new Cosmograph the “Le Mans” and little later to “Daytona” when Rolex started to sponsor the well known U.S. speedway.
Cosmograph: a name that was to be the forerunner of great fortune. Actually, the choice of the name proved to be neither easy nor expected. Whilst Rolex on the one hand flirted with the car-racing world, on the other hand it could not remain unaware of the vast media attention, which at that time was surrounding the conquest of outer space.
