Description

Woody Woodpecker       -       what we have here is a really rare bird, the Rolex Day Date Reference 18239 in white gold. The presented watch is in absolute mint condition and remains unpolished and sharp from any angle. With the very little stretch showing on the bracelet we assume that it was only worn occasionally. The dial in this 18239 is a rare Birch Wood dial with a very warm and bright color. The dial is in new condition and does not show any blemishes or wear. The wood dials are sensitive to humidity and many you see around show waves which become detectable by gaps at the edges. This one however probably never came even close to humidity and remains in impeccable condition. The fact that the hands, indexes and crown are in silver color, means the dial was made in very small numbers specifically for a white metal watch, this enhances the rarity tremendously. The idea of having a piece of wood in your watch is kind of bizarre but it also makes it quite unique, especially because two pieces of wood are never the same. This is probably the best condition wood dial Day Date we have ever offered.

THE DAY-DATE 1956

In 1956, the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date made its debut. Available only in 18 ct gold or platinum, it was the first wristwatch to display the date and day of the week spelt out in full in a window on the dial. With the President bracelet, originally created specially for it, the Day-Date continues to be the watch par excellence of influential people.

LEADERSHIP

Rolex watches have long been associated with those who have, over time, guided the destiny of the world. No matter their vision, their domain of excellence, or their achievements, the one thing these exceptional men and women have in common is often their watch: the Day-Date.
