Description

Tiffany & Co      -      if you walked into Tiffany & Co on 5th Avenue in New York in 1987 you would have found this watch in exactly the same condition as it is today. This Rolex Datejust has it in it for so many reasons. Lets start with the condition, its hard to believe but this is one example of the elusive New old Stock condition. Even to find unpolished pieces is hard enough but unworn is what we all with for. The case, bracelet, bezel and crown are sharp like on day one, make this watch look so much better than when used. As if not already to grab this, there is more. The beautiful silver dial with nicely patina'd lumed features the signature of the probably most renown American Jeweler, 'Tiffany & Co'. This extra line on the dial catapults this watch to an entire new level of collectability not only because of its exclusivity but also because this watch is accompanied by the original box and Warranty Certificate, stamped by 'Tiffany and Co'. We started with the condition, over to the double signature on the dial and finish with the original paperwork, this only happens once in a blue moon. We are very happy to offer this incredible marvel for sale.

THE FIRST DATEJUST 1945

The year 1945 saw the birth of the Datejust, the first self‑winding wrist chronometer to indicate the date in a window on the dial. A watch of great distinction, the Datejust was equipped with a Jubilee bracelet created specially for it and a fluted bezel, making it immediately recognisable as a Rolex. It is the pillar of the Oyster collection. Initially for men, it became available in various models for women in the course of the following decade.
