Description

Guilloche       - when it comes to rare Day Dates, we immediately think of Stella, Stone or Diamond set dials. Those are the ones produced in serial production and fairly small numbers over certain eras so that we can expect to see them around if you are looking in the right places. But there is another category of dials Rolex made for Day Dates which are not only rare but so rare that you might not be able to find a single piece for sale. We know of a few examples in residing in sophisticated collections but there isn't anything out there. This impeccable 1803 in pink gold is such a watch. The dial is a silver Guilloche with a beautiful geometric pattern. This dial appeared a few times at auction over the last decade however mainly bearing Arabic Hindi numerals but with baton indexes this is only the third example we came across and the second example we purchased. It is even possible that the version without the Arabic Hindi numerals is even rarer. The correctly T Swiss T dial is housed in a pink gold case from the 1.6m serial number range as this is where most appeared in. The dial is in beautiful unrestored condition and changes hues depending on lighting. The case and bracelet are in mint condition showing only very light wear from age. The lugs remain healthy and well defined with clear case numbers. There aren't many Guilloche dials in the Rolex range, if we had to guess, the number would be 5 or 6. These very rarely appear on the market and in our opinion represent the rarest or the rarest dials in the Day Date range. We are very proud and thrilled to offer this immaculate watch for sale.

THE DAY-DATE 1956

In 1956, the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date made its debut. Available only in 18 ct gold or platinum, it was the first wristwatch to display the date and day of the week spelt out in full in a window on the dial. With the President bracelet, originally created specially for it, the Day-Date continues to be the watch par excellence of influential people.

LEADERSHIP

Rolex watches have long been associated with those who have, over time, guided the destiny of the world. No matter their vision, their domain of excellence, or their achievements, the one thing these exceptional men and women have in common is often their watch: the Day-Date.
