Description

Wavy Bark       -  Rolex has manufactured a small number of Day Date references with case decorations such as the 1806 Florentine, 1807 Bark  and the 1811 with Morellis finish. The 1810 might actually be a reference most haven't seen yet. The best words to describe the finishing is a wavy bark finish which seems to have been applied by hand. This is the first one we ever had in our hands and the pleasure to offer for sale. The case is in nice vintage condition and shows a very contrasting sleeve finish fro, wear. The dial is a Silver Linen dial with black print and correct TSwissT designation at 6 o'clock. The lume plots have aged to a caramel brown color and are matching the Sword Type hands. Further the calendar discs have aged to a very light brown-yellowish color contrasting beautifully from the dial. The 1810 is an almost elusive reference and very few examples have surfaced on the market, the production period of it is limited to a very short time in 1963/1964. Here's a feast for 4 digit Day Date collectors, it will have a good place next to Florentine, Bark and Morellis finish Day Dates, for sure it is the rarest of them all.

THE DAY-DATE 1956

In 1956, the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date made its debut. Available only in 18 ct gold or platinum, it was the first wristwatch to display the date and day of the week spelt out in full in a window on the dial. With the President bracelet, originally created specially for it, the Day-Date continues to be the watch par excellence of influential people.

LEADERSHIP

Rolex watches have long been associated with those who have, over time, guided the destiny of the world. No matter their vision, their domain of excellence, or their achievements, the one thing these exceptional men and women have in common is often their watch: the Day-Date.
