Maunder Watch Co have for sale a Patek Philippe Ellipse Ref. 3848 ‘Asprey’. Patek Philippe has been at the forefront of horological excellence for centuries and the 3848 is the perfect example of this long lineage of masterpieces. Double-signed watches came to exist in notable quantities in the first half of the 20th century, at a time when most would-be watch buyers made purchases not through brick-and-mortar boutiques owned and operated by manufacturers themselves, but rather through third-party retailers. Many consumers would recognise and trust certain retailers as much or even more than the brands themselves, and so their associated logos would rise in recognition and value. Capitalising upon this, retailers around the world began stamping the dials of many watches they sold. This watch features a deep blue sunburst dial with Asprey signed above 6 o’clock, with yellow gold hands and applied hour markers, 36-hour power reserve, sapphire crystal, water resistant to 25 meters, size: 27mm x 32mm. Housed within the beautifully crafted yellow gold case is the manual calibre 215. Fitted to a black alligator strap this watch is presented in immaculate condition and comes with maxing hallmarked cufflinks, dated 1979.
