ROLEX DATEJUST Ref. 6605 In 1956, Rolex introduces the two new Rolex Datejust models 6604 and 6605. As with the earlier Datejust models, the different references indicate the different style of bezel: smooth for the 6604 and fluted for the 6605. The 6605 and 6604 references share some important features that will revolutionize the entire Datejust model line, both esthetically and technically. The new Cal. 1065 movement, derived from the Cal. 1030, features smaller dimensions compared to the previousDatejust calibers A.295 / 296. This allows the introduction of a new case with a m ore tapered profile. The caseback was also modified, losing its typical curved shape and taking on a more conventional and flat profile. The present Rolex Datejust is a very nice example of reference 6305 made in 1958. The case, bezel, movement and dial a re in very good condition and very well preserved. The bracelet have most likely been replaced over the years during maintenance, but all other components are correct for the year of manufacture. Serial Number 953XXX, Year Circa 1958.
