Description

The Fossil Day Date      -      yes, though its tough to believe that Rolex went that far to use millions of years old petrified fossils for their dials but as we can see here, they did, and we are not surprised. We don't believe there are many of these out there. Slicing a piece of fossilized stone, cutting and stone setting it does not sound like many of these have survived manufacturing.  This fossilized stone is absolute mesmerizing. you only see the fossilized stone when under magnification, with the naked eye it looks like a very finely dotted piece of stone and the gilt print only enhances the look, paired with the 10 diamonds we find on the dial. The watch is a feast for the eyes and looks so good. We are happy to offer this exceptionally rare Day Date with box and correct punched papers from Paris.

THE DAY-DATE 1956

In 1956, the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date made its debut. Available only in 18 ct gold or platinum, it was the first wristwatch to display the date and day of the week spelt out in full in a window on the dial. With the President bracelet, originally created specially for it, the Day-Date continues to be the watch par excellence of influential people.

LEADERSHIP

Rolex watches have long been associated with those who have, over time, guided the destiny of the world. No matter their vision, their domain of excellence, or their achievements, the one thing these exceptional men and women have in common is often their watch: the Day-Date.
