Description

The most iconic watch - The Rolex Submariner Ref. 5513 is the Submariner every collector strives to own and not just one of them. It may not be the rarest vintage Diver – in fact it is actually one of the longest-running series in Rolex’s history, (1962 - 1989) – however it is considered by many collectors to be the epitome of the classic dive watch, and it's one of the most recognizable watches in the  world. The condition makes it rare. The present example is from the last series and carries a glossy dial with white gold surrounds on the hour markers. It is retained in an incredibly well preserved condition with an unpolished case and and a flawless dial showing beautiful patina on lume plots and hands. This 1985 example is a feast on the wrist with its strong and sharp case and exceptional patina on the dial.

The Rolex Submariner

The Rolex Submariner is without a doubt one of the most successful Rolex models in history. Not only because it more than aptly served its purpose as diver’s watch, although I am pretty sure only a small number of Submariners has ever seen a spat of water. Its appearance in several James Bond movies certainly helped as well. If you omit functionality and marketing, the Submariner success is mainly due to its elegance as a timeless dress watch. It’s just one of those watches you keep looking at, regardless of wanting to know the time of day. The Submariner was launched in 1953 and officially presented at the Basel Fair in 1954.
