Description

The Rolex Submariner 5513 is arguably the most iconic Rolex ever made and the choice of most purists. No matter which version you choose, you can never go wrong with a 5513 and if it’s the only watch you'll ever own, it’s a good choice. This stunning 5.8m serial 5513 Submariner is from the late 1970's and still features a matte dial, the Maxi Mk1 dial. The Maxi dials are known for larger lume plots and of all 5 dial versions the Mk1 and MK3 bear the largest plots. The dial on this example is flawless in condition, has a very clean surface free of stains, tool and drag marks. The large lumes have aged to a beautiful creamy color with matching hands. The dome plexi enhances the look of the lume plots making them even look bigger. The bezel remains crisp with sharp teeth and the correct MK3 bezel insert is super crisp and bears a nicely aged brown pearl. The case is strong with straight and even lugs still showing factory champers though it has been lightly polished in the past. All in all the watch is in incredibly mint condition and looks awesome.

The Rolex Submariner

The Rolex Submariner is without a doubt one of the most successful Rolex models in history. Not only because it more than aptly served its purpose as diver’s watch, although I am pretty sure only a small number of Submariners has ever seen a spat of water. Its appearance in several James Bond movies certainly helped as well. If you omit functionality and marketing, the Submariner success is mainly due to its elegance as a timeless dress watch. It’s just one of those watches you keep looking at, regardless of wanting to know the time of day. The Submariner was launched in 1953 and officially presented at the Basel Fair in 1954.
