Very rare and superlative example of Rolex Daytona ref. 6264, manufactured in 1970. The present specimen stands out for its overall condition and the charming tone of the tropical brown subsidiary registers which create a wonderful contrast with the silver dial and the black bezel. Introduced in the beginning of the 1970’s, reference 6264 was produced for a very short period of time and it represents one of the rarest Daytona ever produced. It was powered with the 727 Valjoux caliber, which was an upgrade from the caliber 722-1, used by predecessors such as references 6239 or 6241. Case n: 2425xxx Calibre: Manual, cal. 727 Diameter: 37,5 mm Box & Papers: none Manufactured in 1970

Birth of a Horological Icon Timepiece  The myth around the iconic Rolex Daytona has spread around the world recent years. Always has the Daytona model been attached to motor racing, at first Rolex called their new Cosmograph the “Le Mans” and little later to “Daytona” when Rolex started to sponsor the well known U.S. speedway.
Cosmograph: a name that was to be the forerunner of great fortune. Actually, the choice of the name proved to be neither easy nor expected. Whilst Rolex on the one hand flirted with the car-racing world, on the other hand it could not remain unaware of the vast media attention, which at that time was surrounding the conquest of outer space.
