Description

Grossular Daytona       - the love for Daytonas got greater in the past couple of years and I am not speaking of the current models, I am speaking about the Zenith Daytonas as well as First Generation Rolex movement Daytonas. The run used to be strong on those with bracelet but for a while now even the white and yellow gold examples on strap are flying. When we look at those, there are a few dials which will catch our attention, Mother of Pearl dials, Gem Set dials and Stone dials. One of them is the Grossular dial. The Grossular dial is very different form all the other Stone dials because of its relief or facette-type surface. The burgundy color is very mesmerizing with the medley of the natural inclusions in the stone. The Grossular is not an easy find, we haven't seen many of these. This Daytona is an astonishing watch and it wears very powerfully on the wrist.

DAYTONA BEACH 1960

Birth of a Horological Icon Timepiece  The myth around the iconic Rolex Daytona has spread around the world recent years. Always has the Daytona model been attached to motor racing, at first Rolex called their new Cosmograph the “Le Mans” and little later to “Daytona” when Rolex started to sponsor the well known U.S. speedway.
Cosmograph: a name that was to be the forerunner of great fortune. Actually, the choice of the name proved to be neither easy nor expected. Whilst Rolex on the one hand flirted with the car-racing world, on the other hand it could not remain unaware of the vast media attention, which at that time was surrounding the conquest of outer space.
