The 18038 Day Date has been produced from 1978 until 1987 and comes with sapphire crystal and quickset date movement. Many special dial variants exist for this model including Stella, Diamond and Stone dials. The Onyx dial is one of the most popular stone dials and maybe the most distinguished dials on the 18038 becoming rarer and rarer.

In 1956, the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date made its debut. Available only in 18 ct gold or platinum, it was the first wristwatch to display the date and day of the week spelt out in full in a window on the dial.
