Description

Lady in Red       - in the 1970s Rolex introduced the Stella dial, a lacquered and highly glossy dial which came in a rainbow of colors. These were reserved for Day Date and some ladies references and we believe they have been produced up to the early 1990s. In the 1970s the world wasn't ready for these vibrant, loud and bold colors but for sure we are today. Stella dials come in a wide range of colors including Oxblood, Blue, Green, Turquoise, Peach, Seafoam, Red, Orange, Lilac and Yellow. These colors can vary today because of different reasons. One is that the lacquer for each dial was mixed separately by hand so was different at the time of the production, the other is that over the years some dials have aged to different hues because of temperatures, humidity, UV impact and other reasons.  The here offered watch is a super sharp and mint yellow gold reference 18238 from 1984 in really astonishing condition. The dial is an original and stunning Red Stella dial with diamond and baguette markers. We have louped the dial very carefully and the best word to describe the condition is flawless. The fire red color, paired with the rare gold print is a winner. This stunning watch is not going to go unnoticed and is so much fun on the wrist and not only for Ladies.

THE DAY-DATE 1956

In 1956, the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date made its debut. Available only in 18 ct gold or platinum, it was the first wristwatch to display the date and day of the week spelt out in full in a window on the dial. With the President bracelet, originally created specially for it, the Day-Date continues to be the watch par excellence of influential people.

LEADERSHIP

Rolex watches have long been associated with those who have, over time, guided the destiny of the world. No matter their vision, their domain of excellence, or their achievements, the one thing these exceptional men and women have in common is often their watch: the Day-Date.
