Description

The Burl Wood       -       When you think about it, Rolex has used the most exotic materials for their dials. Starting from hard stone, Stella, gem-set, gilt and many more. One of the most interesting types is the wood dial. Its very bizarre to have a dial made of wood as we see it on our furniture and floors. But yet, when Rolex makes a dial they make it so good. The offered watch has a Burl Wood dial, a type of wood with interesting properties, often used for decoration or accessories. The color is warm and dark, blends beautifully with the golden print and indexes. The dial is in immaculate and mint condition and does not show any wear from age. Many wood dials have curved over time because of humidity and water impact, this one is flat and straight, like when it left the factory. One very distinctive characteristic on wood dials is that the hour indexes are not really in baton shape they are slim and actually have the same length like the minute markers. This creates a completely new look as this does not appear much on other dial types. The day disc is in Spanish language . The watch is in overall mint condition and we dare to use the words 'Like New' as it probably has hardly seen wrist time, has never been polished before and does not show much wear from age. The case back sticker is still partially present. This beautiful Burl Wood Day Date is one of the best ones we have seen in a while in all aspects, aesthetics, condition and configuration.

THE DAY-DATE 1956

In 1956, the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date made its debut. Available only in 18 ct gold or platinum, it was the first wristwatch to display the date and day of the week spelt out in full in a window on the dial. With the President bracelet, originally created specially for it, the Day-Date continues to be the watch par excellence of influential people.

LEADERSHIP

Rolex watches have long been associated with those who have, over time, guided the destiny of the world. No matter their vision, their domain of excellence, or their achievements, the one thing these exceptional men and women have in common is often their watch: the Day-Date.
