Description

Vignette       - This wonderful 18038 dates back to 1978 and is in beautiful vintage  condition.  The case remains well proportioned with rich and even lugs.  The gold has aged to a beautiful rosy color. Now to the highlight of this watch. The case is fitted with a Red Vignette Diamond dial, also called degrade dial because of the degrading color in the middle of the dial which becomes darker towards the edge of the dial. The lacquer used for these dials is similar to the one used for Stella dials and there is a special technique how the degrade look is achieved. With Stella dials becoming very rare the Vignette dials are still in a very reasonable price range. The color on this one is sheer amazing.  This is the kind of watch which is your companion on a nice cigar evening.

THE DAY-DATE 1956

In 1956, the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date made its debut. Available only in 18 ct gold or platinum, it was the first wristwatch to display the date and day of the week spelt out in full in a window on the dial. With the President bracelet, originally created specially for it, the Day-Date continues to be the watch par excellence of influential people.

LEADERSHIP

Rolex watches have long been associated with those who have, over time, guided the destiny of the world. No matter their vision, their domain of excellence, or their achievements, the one thing these exceptional men and women have in common is often their watch: the Day-Date.
