Description

Patek Philippe 18K yellow and rose gold ref. 502J As one of the rarest of early Calatrava models, well before a round Patek Philippe was even nicknamed Calatrava, the ref. 502 is not a watch many people have seen before. Early time only watches such as this were sized rather small for modern tastes. Although intended originally for a man, this 28.5 mm is a small wristwatch that packs a big punch in terms of design and aesthetic. The hooded lugs are essentially tear drop in shape as seen from the side profile, and the bezel frames the simple form of a classic circle. A pleasant surprise is the use of a two-tone aesthetic using 18K yellow and rose gold. Primarily yellow gold, the inner circle of the bezel and the outer shaped ridge next to the hoods are executed in rose gold. The yellow gold colored gilt dial ties the whole look together, highlighting the raised enamel long signature dial.
