Watch details

A great example of this “grail” watch, pieces in such condition has become exceedingly difficult to find. The beautifully-preserved original dial and original bezel leave little to be desired- this is a handsome, honest watch noted specifically for the brightness of the colors retained on the dial and strong patina on the luminous dots. While we are not selling this watch as unpolished, the case could only be described as mint. The bracelet is period-correct, but not original to the watch. The hands are newer. 37mm We are not selling this watch as unpolished and it is not accompanied by any accessories. Stock 44527

The Rolex Daytona "Paul Newman"

Due to the coolness of Mr Paul Newman italian collectors started to call his “Exotic” Daytona giving the nickname Paul Newman. From origin Rolex asked their dial maker Singer to produce a special run chronograph dials because those where not selling quite well back in the days. The successful flight to the moon with the Omega Speedmaster was working negatively for the sales of the Rolex Daytona. Due to the oil crisis made the racing imago wasn’t very populair and Rolex needed to come up with something new. Except the development by Singer of the “Exotic” dial, Rolex developed the “screw down oyster-waterproof” pusher making their Daytona Cosmograph a sales hit.
