Watch details

Malachite is the most prized of the now-discontinued Rolex stone dial collection. Noted for its vibrant color, with distinctive striations within the natural material, the dial is illuminated by the warmth of the yellow gold case. Datejusts with this dial are more scarce than their Day-Date counterparts and the absence of the day wheel at the top allows for a greater surface area of the intense green dial. The dial of this watch is remarkable preserved, as malachite tends to become crazed or cracked over time. This dial has two very minor hairlines, only visible under magnification. The original Jubilee bracelet is also in excellent vintage condition and will suit the preference of the discerning collector. 36mm. Stock 42216

THE FIRST DATEJUST 1945

The year 1945 saw the birth of the Datejust, the first self‑winding wrist chronometer to indicate the date in a window on the dial. A watch of great distinction, the Datejust was equipped with a Jubilee bracelet created specially for it and a fluted bezel, making it immediately recognisable as a Rolex. It is the pillar of the Oyster collection. Initially for men, it became available in various models for women in the course of the following decade.
