Rolex Red Submariner Feet First "Box and Papers"

REF. 1680

A very pretty example of a full set Red Submariner. A real looker, this watch features a beautiful dial and sharp case. First sold in 1974, this watch comes with inner and outer box, cigarette card, double punched papers, and service guarantee papers from Rolex UK.

Beautiful case in excellent condition. Minor wear on surfaces, the watch has sharp chamfers on each lug, and clear and visible serial and reference numbers. The caseback is dated III/71.

Original "open 6" Red Submariner dial in excellent condition. The tritium hands match the dial and pearl in the bezel insert. Insert is slightly faded to a dark grey and is also in excellent condition.

Watch comes on a solid 91350 bracelet with 12 links and 580 end pieces. There is no stretch and bracelet is in near mint condition.

The Rolex Submariner

The Rolex Submariner is without a doubt one of the most successful Rolex models in history. Not only because it more than aptly served its purpose as diver’s watch, although I am pretty sure only a small number of Submariners has ever seen a spat of water. Its appearance in several James Bond movies certainly helped as well. If you omit functionality and marketing, the Submariner success is mainly due to its elegance as a timeless dress watch. It’s just one of those watches you keep looking at, regardless of wanting to know the time of day. The Submariner was launched in 1953 and officially presented at the Basel Fair in 1954.
