There are more versions of the Rolex Datejust than we can probably imagine, and this model alone is the theme of many collections. This one here is a typical reference, 1601, but in the unusual rose gold version, which makes it quite precious. On top of that, the original and matching rose gold Oyster bracelet makes this example truly rare. It is interesting to know that rose gold oyster bands were mainly made for the South American market: the ones I have seen so far are all stamped only GF (Gay Freres) on the clasp along with SWISS. The only Rolex logo on it is the coronet applied on the outside

The year 1945 saw the birth of the Datejust, the first self‑winding wrist chronometer to indicate the date in a window on the dial. A watch of great distinction, the Datejust was equipped with a Jubilee bracelet created specially for it and a fluted bezel, making it immediately recognisable as a Rolex. It is the pillar of the Oyster collection. Initially for men, it became available in various models for women in the course of the following decade.
